Abstract
Bioenergia tootmine on jätkusuutliku arengu üheks oluliseks komponendiks. Biogaas alternatiivenergiana võib osutuda väljapääsuks energia impordi sõltuvusest, lisaks aitab vähendada kasvuhoonegaaside heitkoguseid ning säästa taastumatuid energiaallikaid. Rannaniidu biomassi on võimalik kasutada biogaasi tootmise lähtematerjalina.

Bioenergy production is one of the key components of sustainable development. Biogas as an alternative energy can be a way out of dependence on energy imports, in addition, it helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save non-renewable energy sources. Coastal meadow biomass could be used as a feedstock for biogas production. The aim of this study is to evaluate the biogas and methane productivity of Estonian coastal meadow plants. Biochemical methane potential tests (BMP) were performed to determine biogas and methane potential. A total of 15 plant samples were collected from zones of different salinity from the Tahu coastal meadow. The average biogas potential of the coastal meadow plants was 383 L/kg TS and 425 L/kg VS. The average methane potential was 212 L/kg TS and 235 L/kg VS. The average methane content in biogas was 55%. The average biogas yields of plant communities did not differ. The results showed that coastal meadow plants are a suitable raw material for biogas production.
