Jaapani ebaküdoonia (Chaenomeles japonica Thunb.) erinevate sortide kasvatamise perspektiivsus Eesti tingimustes

Abstract
Jaapani ebaküdoonia (Chaenomeles japonica Thunb.) alaseid uurimistöid ei ole Eestis tehtud. Sellealane töö vajab edaspidist rohkem ja põhjalikumat uurimist, sest see väärtuslik puuviljakultuur väärib suuremat tähelepanu meie toidulaua rikastamisel. Ebaküdooniat kasutatakse väga laialdaselt Hiina meditsiinis kui antioksüdanti ja antibakteriaalset vahendit. Sajandeid on taime kasutatud aneemia, reuma, podagra ja südame-veresoonkonna haiguste raviks. Ebaküdoonia viljad sisaldavad mitmeid inimese tervisele kasulikke aineid ja ühendeid nagu näiteks orgaanilisi happeid, vitamiine, karotiine, pektiine ja teisi väärtuslike aineid. Magistritöö eesmärk oli välja selgitada ebaküdoonia sortide talvekindlus, saagikus ja saagi kvaliteet arvestades vilja massi, läbimõõtu ja viljaliha paksust. Lähtuvalt eelnevast püstitati hüpotees: Läti päritoluga Jaapani ebaküdoonia sordid ’Rasa’, ’Darius’, ’Rondo’, ’Cido’ ja ’Cido Red’ sobivad Eesti tingimustes kasvatamiseks nii talvekindluse, saagikuse kui ka viljade kvaliteedi seisukohast. Ebaküdoonia taimede talvekahjustusi ja õitsemist vaadeldi ja hinnati 2019. aasta kevadel ning viljade mõõtmised toimusid 2019. aasta sügisel OÜ Seedri Puukooli istandikus (Polli küla, Mulgi vald, Viljandimaa). Viljade mõõtmised, vaatlused ning analüüsid tehti 5 sordi kohta: ’Rasa’, ’Darius’, ’Rondo’, ’Cido’, ’Cido Red’. Esimese katseaasta tulemustest selgus, et talvekindlamad ja saagikamad sordid olid ’Rasa’, ’Darius’ ja ’Rondo’. Madalaima keskmise saagiga oli sort ’Cido Red’. Suurima massiga viljad olid sortidel ’Rasa’ ja ’Darius’. Kõige paksema viljalihaga oli sort ’Rondo’ ja väiksema seemnete osakaaluga olid sordid ’Rondo’ ja ’Darius’. Hüpotees leidis osaliselt kinnitust. Kõik katses olevad Läti sordid sobivad Eestis kasvatamiseks. Katses olevatest sortidest arvestades talvekindlust, saagikus ja vilja kvaliteeti on perspektiivikamad ’Rasa’, ’Darius’ ja ’Rondo’.
 
In Estonia no research has been conducted on Japanese quince (Chaenomeles japonica Thunb.) Work in this area needs more in-depth research, because this valuable fruit crop deserves more attention in enriching our table. Japanese quince is very widely used in Chinese medicine as an antioxidant and antibacterial agent. The plant has been used for centuries to treat anemia, rheumatism, gout and cardiovascular diseases. The fruits of Japanese quince contain many substances and compounds that are beneficial to human health, such as organic acids, vitamins, carotenes, pectins and other valuable substances. The aim of the current master's thesis was to study winter hardiness, yield and yield quality of different Japanese quince cultivars by measuring the weight, diameter and flesh thickness of the fruits. Based on the above, a hypothesis was made: Japanese quince cultivars ‘Rasa’, ‘Darius’, ‘Rondo’, ‘Cido’ and ‘Cido Red’of Latvian origin are suitable for cultivation in Estonian climate conditions in terms of winter hardiness, yield and fruit quality. Winter damage and flowering of Japanese quince plants were observed and evaluated in the spring of 2019, and fruit measurements took place in the autumn of 2019 in the plantation of OÜ Seedri Puukooli (Polli, Viljandi county, Estonia). Fruit measurements, observations and analyses were performed on 5 cultivars: ‘Rasa’, ‘Darius’, ‘Rondo’, ‘Cido’, ‘Cido Red’. The results of the first experimental year showed that the cultivars with the best winter hardiness and highest average yield were ‘Rasa’, ‘Darius’ and ‘Rondo’. The species with the lowest average yield was ’Cido Red’. The heaviest fruits belonged to ‘Rasa’ and ‘Darius’ and the thickest flesh of the fruit was measured on ‘Rondo’. The lowest seed content was counted in the fruits of ‘Rondo’ and ‘Darius’. In conclusion the hypothesis was partially confirmed. All Latvian cultivars of Japanese quince included in the study are suitable for cultivation in Estonia. Among the studied species ‘Rasa’, ‘Darius’ and ‘Rondo’ are more perspective in terms of winter hardiness, yield and fruit quality.
