Metsatööstus omab suurt rolli Eesti majanduses. Aastas raiutakse ligi 11 miljonit tihumeetrit
puitu.
Töö on tehtud kirjalike allikate põhjal. Järeldused põhinevad varasemate uuringute
põhjal ning Keskkonnateabe Keskuse Aastaraamat 2010 Eesti Mets andmetest järelduste
tegemisel.
tasuvust.
Forest industry plays a big role in Estonian economy. In a year, 11 million cubic metes of wood is harvested. The aim of this thesis is to find out, what happens in forest, after the fellings, how it affects forest animals and plants and possible methods to cut timber with minimal harm done. Thesis is based on literature. Conclusions are based on prior studys and conclusions made from publification of The Estonian Environment Information Centre Yearbook Forest 2010. Most forest friendly cuttings are selection cutting, group selection and shelterwood strip cutting, they are similiar to natural disturbances, clearcut is suitable to pure stands. The conclusion of this thesis is that timber harvesting is not always with negative influences, after cuttings the natural regeneration is on its peek, after that, it continuous to decrease and in mature and old stands it will increase again. In the future, its possible to study different influences from different cutting methods, their usefulness and profitability.
