Abstrakt
Väike-konnakotkas (Clanga pomarina) on üks viiest Eestis pesitsevast
soorolle on põhjalikult uuritud, puuduvad seni vastavad uuringud väike-konnakotka kohta.
nende muutumist pesitsusperioodi jooksul.
Pesaehitusse panustasid mõlemad vanalinnud, kuid erinevatel pesitsusperioodi etappidel.
The Lesser Spotted Eagle (Clanga pomarina) is one of five eagle species that breed in Estonia and is classified under the strictest protection category, indicating it is an endangered and conservation-priority species. While the breeding roles of many raptor species have been extensively studied, no such research has been conducted on the Lesser Spotted Eagle. The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to investigate the temporal distribution of breeding activities between male and female Lesser Spotted Eagles and to examine the variability of these roles across different nesting sites. The study was based on data collected in 2023 from Tartu County using trail cameras installed near eagle nests. A total of 54 479 camera trap images were analyzed. The main parental duties of males and females were identified, along with their temporal changes during the breeding period. Differences in behavior between the two nesting sites— Sojamaa and Karijärve—were also examined. The results showed that females were primarily responsible for egg incubation and chick care, while males predominantly handled hunting and food provisioning. Both sexes contributed to nest building, albeit during different periods.
