Töö eesmärgiks oli uurida hariliku kuuse eeluuenduse kasvu peale ülarinde alt
vabastamist.
varasemate uurimustega. Eeluuenduse puud vajavad uute tingimustega kohanemiseks
mõned aastad aega, mille jooksul vahetavad puud varjuokkad valgusokaste vastu ning
vana metsa raiumisel väheneb juurkonkurents ja vabaneb kasvuks vajalikke toitaineid ja
vett.
The aim of this study was to assess the growth of Norway spruce advance regeneration after release. The main hypotesis is that there is a relationship between the age of advance regeneration and growth after release. Data used in this study was gathered from two permanent sample plots located in Järvselja Training and Experimental Forest Center. In each sample plot 100 advance regeneration trees were selected and measured at the end of each growing season. Precise diameter increment growth was obtained after harvesting the sample trees. Collected discs were taken to laboratory and tree-ring widths were measured using LINTAB tree-ring measurement station. The results show that advance regeneration of Norway spruce is able to demonstrate vigorous increment in both height and diameter, which is consistent with previous studies. Advance regeneration trees need a few years time to adapt to the new growing conditions during which they exchange their shade-adapted needles to light-adapted needles. After clearcut root competition is reduced and availability of water and nutrients is improved, which promote tree growth. The hypotesis of relationship between advance regeneration age and growth after release was not proved, both the trees in younger age classes and trees in older age classes responded equaly well to release. Advance regeneration of Norway spruce adapts well to the new environmental conditions after release and can be used in forest regeneration.
