Abstrakt
Elu jooksul puutuvad inimesed terviseasutustega kokku tõenäoliselt palju. Eestis on küll
üldarstiabi kättesaadavus hinnatud heaks, kuid omaette küsimus on kas terviseasutuse
ümber olev keskkond toetab inimese tervenemist. Tänases keskkonnas on küllaltki palju
kus nad viibivad.
During their lifetime, people will have some kind of contact with health service institutions. The availability of medical care in Estonia is rated good but the question is if the environment around the health service institution supports people’s convalescence? Today we have many greenspaces around us, which are known to contribute to the health and well-being of society. However, outdoor spaces of medical centres are often not taken into consideration, even though greenery can be a factor which will help people to recover from illness. As we know most of the medical care activities are done inside health care service institutions and those spaces can be monotonous. The goal for this thesis was to describe health service institutions' greenspaces and determine the factors that contribute tohealing landscapes in Võru and Põlva county using different methods and theories from environmental psychology. To achieve that goal I had to first find the institutions which provide people with some kind of medical care. Fieldwork was then conducted where I identified the features that corresponded to the different theories. After obtaining the results, the correlation between the theories and the percentage of incidence was calculated. It was found that the Estonian health service institutions needed more designed greenspaces which would contribute to the well-being of patients and medical care workers. This topic is important because people can potentially derive health benefits from the environment as well as from medical care workers. Estonian health service institutions have the potential to help the patients and institution workers through well-designed greenspaces, but this potential is not used it’s fullest.
