Abstrakt
Sigade Aafrika katk on hetkel üks levinumaid sigade viirushaigusi Euroopas, mille tõttu
Lõputöö eesmärgiks on anda ülevaade kuidas haigus on levinud 21. sajandil Euroopas,
see mõjutanud metssigade populatsiooni. Uurimismeetod koosneb nii eesti- kui
inglisekeelse kirjanduse analüüsist. Sigade Aafrika katku tõttu on metssigade arvukus
pole piisavalt, mistõttu teadlastel on raske anda nõu kuidas katkuga võidelda. Haiguse
African swine fever is currently one of the most common viral disease in Europe which causes 95-100% of the deaths of wild boars and domestic pigs and it has a large affect on wild boar population and pork industry. The aim of this thesis is to give and overview of how disease has spread in Europe, including Estonia in the 21st century, what measures to take to get rid of the disease and how it has affected the wild boar population. The research method consists of both Estonian and English literature analysis. Due to African swine fever, the number of wild boars has decreased in several European countries. During the compilation of the thesis, it has become clear that the disease has been underestimated and there is not enough research done and it is difficult for scientists to give advise on how to fight with the disease. To eliminate African swine fever, strict measures must be taken and consistently followed, then it is possible to get rid of it.
