Harilik jalakas ja künnapuu on haljastuses olulised puuliigid. Metsakooslustes on nad
pigem vähe esinevad puuliigid, mistõttu neid liike puudutavad uuringud on jäänud pigem
tahaplaanile.
Nende puuliikide tervist ohustavad erinevad kahjustajad näiteks üraskid jt putukad,
seenhaigustest jalakasurm, aga ka bakterkahjustused.
Töö eesmärk on uurida, millises tervislikus seisundis on metsakooslustes jalakad ja
künnapuud ning saadud tulemuste põhjal välja selgitada, millised kahjustajad mõjutavad
nende puude tervist enim. Töös hinnati 11 hariliku jalaka ja 11 künnapuu puistut ja kokku
440 puud.
Töö tulemustest selgub, et hinnatud harilikust jalakast kuulus 7% esimesesse
kahjustusklassi, teise kahjustusklassi 57%, kolmandasse 11%, neljandasse 5% ja
viiendasse 20% hinnatud puudest. Künnapuudest kuulus esimesse klassi 12%, teise 67%,
kolmandasse 18%, neljandasse 2% ja viiendasse 1% hinnatud puudest. Sellele tuginedes
on hariliku jalaka tervis metsakoosluses halvem kui on künnapuudel, kuna surnud harilike
jalakaid on 220 hinnatud puust 43, künnapuid vaid 2 puud hinnatud 220 puust. Kõige
sagedasemad kahjustused on külmalõhed, ladvavigastused, külmaseene kahjustused,
üraski kahjustused ja bakterkahjustused.
The Wych elm and the European white elm are important tree species in landscaping. In forest communities, they are a less common tree species, which is why studies on these species have been somewhat neglected. Various damaging factors such as pests, different diseases, like Dutch elm disease and bacterial damage threaten the health of these species. The aim of the study is to investigate the health status of elms in forest communities, and determine which factors have the strongest impact on their health based on the obtained results. The study assessed 11 forest stands of Wych elm and 11 forest stands of European white elm, totalling 440 trees. Of the Wych elms, 7% were in the first health class, 57% in the second, 11% in the third, 5% in the fourth, and 20% in the fifth. Of the European white elms, 12% were in the first class, 67% in the second, 18% in the third, 2% in the fourth, and 1% in the fifth. Based on these findings, the health of Wych elm in forest communities is worse than that of European white elms, as there are 43 dead Wych elms of the 220 assessed tress compared to 2 dead European white elms of the 220 assessed trees. The most common types of damage are frost cracks, top damage, bark beetle damage, Armillaria spp. damage and bacterial damage.
