Abstrakt
Mets on Eesti jaoks tähtis loodusvara, mis katab meie riigi pindalast üle poole (~51%) ja annab
tööd paljudele eestlastele. Dendrokronoloogiliste meetoditega saab hinnata ja analüüsida erinevate
häiringute mõju puude kasvule.
Käesoleva bakalaureusetöö eesmärgiks on analüüsida arukase ja hariliku kuuse radiaalkasvu
tormijärgses puistus Antumäe kinnistul, Lõuna-Eestis. Töös kasutatakse 20 tormi üle elanud puu
puursüdamiku proovi, mis koguti novembris 2016 toimunud välitöödel.
Proovid mõõdeti ja seejärel analüüsiti nende protsentuaalset juurdekasvu pärast tormi. Suhtelise
juurdekasvu meetodi abil hinnati toimund häiringu mõju suurust.
Suurim suhteline juurdekasv ja rinnaspindala juurdekasv toimus kuuskedes, mis asusid lagedal
alal. Analüüsis selgus, et kase suhteline juurdekasv ja rinnaspindala juurdekasv ei näidanud suurt
muutust enne ja pärast häiringut, mis võib olla tingitud asjaolust, et enne häiringut oli kask
esimese rinde enamuspuuliik.
Töö tulemuste põhjal saab hinnata arukase ja hariliku kuuse reaktsiooni tormikahjustustele.
Forests are an important natural resource for Estonia, covering over half of the country’s teritory (ca 51%) and provides jobs for numerous Estonians. Dendrochronology helps evaluate and analyse how diffenerent disturbances affect the growth of trees. In this Bachelor thesis radial growth changes of Silver birch and Norway spruce trees following a windstorm disturbance on Antumäe private forest property, located in Southern Estonia were analysed. For this research study increment cores from 20 trees that survived the storm were collected in November 2016. Tree-ring widths were measured and radial growth release after storm disturbance was analysed. Percentage growth change method was applied to assess the magnitude of release in sampled trees. In addition, basal area increments before and after the disturbance were compared. The greatest release in growth and basal area increment were observed in advance regeneration of Norway spruce that grew in an a cleared area. The changes in radial growth, including basal area increment before and after the disturbance, were considerably smaller for the birch, which might be explained by the fact that birch was a dominant tree species in the stand before the disturbance. The results of this research study contributes to improved understanding on silver birch and Norway spruce growth responses to windstorm damages.
