Pre-commercial thinning is one of the most common and important silvicultural techniques used to establish the species composition of the future stand and increase economic profitability. The bachelor's thesis provides an overview of the composition and numerical indicators of young stands before and after pre-commerial thinning. Measurements were carried out on two properties and six forest comparments located in Pärnu and Viljandi counties. During the work, the numbers and heights of trees by species were measured on 25 sample plots. Used and analyzed data in this work have been collected during the field work, the data used in the comparison was obtained from the Forestry Program Project No. 15071 report. MS Excel was used to analyze the data. The results of the bachelor's thesis revealed that after pre-commercial thinning, the difference in the heights of the stands was 1.3m. The number of trees before pre-commercial thinning does not depend on the average height of the stand, but the dependence of the number of trees on the average height after pre-commercial thinning is significant at a 90% confidence level. The composition coefficient of pine and spruce increased significantly as a result of pre-commercial thinning, while the composition coefficient of birch remained the same. Following the first and second pre-commercial thinnings, the heights of the stands are significantly different at a 95% confidence level, but the number of trees is not significantly different.
