Kibuvitsad leiavad kasutust meditsiinis, toiduainetööstuses, parfümeerias,
kosmeetikatööstuses ja haljastuses. Kuna kibuvitsad sisaldavad karotenoide, rasvhappeid,
erinevaid vitamiine (sealhulgas vitamiine C, E, B ja K) ja teisi biokeemilisi ühendeid on nende
roll tänapäeva üha enam tervislikkusele orienteeritud ühiskonna seas järjest tähtsam. Koerkibuvitsa
viljad sisaldavad galaktolipiidi ning seetõttu on see taim oluline artriidiravis. Kuna
õites on rohkesti lõhna andvaid monoterpeene on neid taimi võimalik kasutada
kosmeetikatööstuses ja parfümeerias. Antud töö eesmärk on kirjanduse põhjal kirjeldada koerkibuvitsa
(R. canina) ja kurdlehise kibuvitsa (R. rugosa) bioloogilisi eripärasid, kasvunõudeid
ja keemilist koostist. Tuua välja koer-kibuvitsa ja kurdlehise kibuvitsa majanduslik väärtus
ning kirjeldada sobivaid kasvuparameetreid kibuvitsade kasvatamisel Eesti tingimustes.
Põgusalt käsitletakse ka kurdlehise kibuvitsa invasiivsuse probleemi. Koer-kibuvits ja
kurdlehine kibuvits on mõlemad võrdlemisi vähenõudlikud taimed ja seetõttu on neid võimalik
Eestis laialdasemalt kasvatada. Kultuuris kasvatamisel võiks eelistada koer-kibuvitsa, kuna
tegu on Euroopas looduslikult kasvava liigiga.
Kurdlehine
kibuvits on oluline taim teeäärte ja ringteede haljastuses, kuna talub soolasid.
Rose hips are used in medicine, food industry, perfumery, cosmetics and landscaping. Due to rose hips containing fatty acids, different vitamins (including vitamins C, E, B and K) and other biochemical compounds the role of these plants is increasing in modern healthoriented society. Dog rose contains galactolipid and therefore is essential for arthritic treatment. Due to rich content of scent giving monoterpenes in the flower, these plants can be used in cosmetics and perfumery. The aim of this paper is to describe dog rose's (R. canina) and japanese rose's (R. rugosa) biological properties, growing conditions and chemical composition on literary basis. Also to bring out the economic value of dog rose and japanese rose and describe proper growth parameters in Estonian conditions. The problem of japanese rose invasiveness is also briefly discussed. Both dog rose and japanese rose are relatively undemanding plants and therefore they can be grown widely in Estonia. In Estonia dog rose should be preferred in cultivation as it is native to Europe. Japanese rose invasiveness should not be a problem if plants are grown at least 50 kilometres away from the coastal areas. The importance of dog rose lies in the use of this plant in medicine and health products. Japanese rose is important plant in roundabout and roadside landscaping because of its salt tolerance.
