Abstrakt
Eestis on kaks populaarsemat lihaveisetõugu aberdiin-angus (Ab) ja hereford (Hf). Nende jõudlusnäitajate analüüs oleks vajalik, et näha, kuhu aretusega jõutud on ning millele tuleks edaspidi keskenduda. Käesoleva töö eesmärk oli analüüsida Eesti Tõuloomakasvatajate Ühistu, Eesti Lihaveisekasvatajate Seltsi ning Eesti Maaülikooli koostöös läbiviidavas söötmiskatses olnud Hf ja Ab noorpullide katse lõppmasse, ööpäevaseid massi-iibeid ning söödakasutuse efektiivsust aastati. Autor püstitas hüpoteesid:
1.
Katseaastate jooksul suurenevad pullikute keskmised lõppmassid ja ööpäevased massi-iibed;
2.
Sööta efektiivsemalt kasutavate pullikute arv katses suureneb aastate jooksul.
The two most popular beef cattle breeds in Estonia are Aberdeen Angus (Ab) and Hereford (Hf). In order to see how the breeds have progressed in their performance, where they stand currently and what should be the breeding goals for the future, an analysis is needed. The aim of this thesis was to analyse the weights, daily mass gains and feeding efficiency of Ab and Hf young bulls in the collaborative study conducted by the Animal Breeders Association of Estonia, the Estonian Beef Breeders Association, and the Estonian University of Life Sciences. The author of this thesis hypothesised the following: 1. The average final weight and daily mass gain of the bulls will increase over the years of the study; 2. The number of bulls who have good feeding efficiency will increase over the years of the study. The results that were analysed had been gathered in a five-year time span. Every year, the bulls were weighed at two-week intervals and then on two consecutive days at the end of the study. Ab and Hf bulls were analysed based on the following: final weight, daily mass gain, feed consumption per kg of mass gain, and feeding efficiency. The average final weights of both breeds were highest in the third year of the study. Final weight was lowest for both breeds during the last year that was analysed. The daily mass gains, however, were highest in the first year and lowest in the last year. Feeding efficiency was also best in the first year. The hypotheses set were not confirmed by the analysis. It was not possible to draw conclusions about the increase in final weight and daily mass gain of Ab and Hf bulls or the improvement in feeding efficiency during the years that were analysed. It is possible that more specific conclusions can be drawn in the future if a longer period of time or a larger number of young bulls are analyzed. It would also be possible to assess feed utilization more accurately by analyzing the feeding of each young bull individually.
