Abstrakt
Eesti on väga sooderikas maa. Suur soode arvukus loob hea eelduse ka turba
kaevandamiseks. Eesmärgiks on mahtude võrdluses uurida, milleks ja kui suur osa
Eestis kaevandatud turbast kulub. Üsna täpsed andmed selleks olen saanud Eesti
Statistikaameti koduleheküljelt, kus on ära toodud mahud aastate lõikes. Lisaks
kaevandamise ja töötlemise mahtudele on seal täpsed andmed ka ekspordi ja
impordi kohta. Uurimistöö käigus selgus, et viimastel aastatel kaevandatakse
aastas keskmiselt 900 tuhat tonni turvast. Suurem osa kaevandatud turbast läheb
energeetika sektorisse, aastas keskmiselt 300-400 tuhat tonni ning ka turba-briketi
tootmiseks. Väiksemal määral ka kasvuturba ja turbasubstraatide tootmiseks. Eesti
ekspordib suurema osa turbast välisriikidesse. Keskmiselt on viimasel 10 aastal
eksporditud 862,3 tuhat tonni turvast aastas. Impordi osakaal põhimõtteliselt
puudub. Kui vaadata saadud tulemust, siis enamus kaevandatud turbast eksporditakse
välja. Vaid tühine osa jääb kasutamiseks Eestisse. Ühelt poolt näitab
see seda, et Eesti võiks hakata ise enam turvast kasutama. Näiteks suurendada
selle osakaalu energiatootmises. Teisalt ka Eesti turu vähest ostuvõimelisust. Töö
statistilisi andmeid võiks kasutada Eesti turbakasutuse ökonoomsuse
väljatöötamisel.
