Uuringurühma moodustasid 91% naised, keskmises vanuses 47,9 ± 13,2 aastat, kelle
Vaid
emotsionaalset kurnatust tajutakse poolte hinnangul tugevalt häirivana.
The aim of the study was to analyze the specifics of supervisors' work and its impact on their health, depending on cognitive overload, and to explain changes in mental performance and burnout in given occupation. The survey was carried out among the employees of a specific organization. The questionnaire was compiled based on internationally validated questionnaires and adapted to the target group. There were n=890 supervisors in the target group. The survey was carried out in ARV purposively selected organizations. The questionnaire was sent to the human resources managers of the organizations, who shared it with the company's web environment, responded 67 employees. The measurement of cognitive functions was carried out among 8 volunteers who answered to the e-questionnaire. The study group consisted of 91% women, an average age of 47,9±13,2 years, with average total service length 23,5±14,8 years and in the special welfare service centres 5,6±5,4 years. Many of the respondents work in shifts in special care services that are available around the clock. Most of the work is high paced and supervisors have little autonomy over their work. More than half of workers experience violence at work by clients once per month or often. Most of them always filled a case report after incidents and discussed the situation with their colleagues. Most of the respondents believe that they are doing important and emotionally engaging work that has clear goals. More than half of the employees have noticed changes in their health after taking up employment as a supervisor. In most cases, employees estimate their burnout rates as average and few mention their occurrence and disruption to high or low. Only the emotional exhaustion is perceived highly disturbing. More than a third say that the emotional exhaustion disruption is low. Most frequently mentioned health disorders were increased appetite, sleep disorders, migraine and memory problems. Only a few employees pointed out that these problems are disruptive and work-related. Statistical analysis showed as emotional exhaustion grows, the self-esteem of the supervisor increases (p= 0,0001). Special attention must be paid to the specificity and work environment of special care institutions in order to prevent physical health problems and mental disorders.
